Anyone have any ideas about this apparent anomaly with C14 in coal? Well, they dated one of those too, the results stated that the seal had died 1,300 years ago. Since the 1960s, scientists have started accounting for the variations by calibrating the clock against the known ages of tree rings. Most samples of basalt closest to the fossil-bearing strata give dates of about 23 Ma Mega annum, million years by the argon-argon method.
It is an unsolved mystery to evolutionists as to why coal has 14C in it,, or wood supposedly millions of years old still has 14C present, but it makes perfect sense in a creationist world view. For the same reason, 14 C concentrations in the neighbourhood of large cities are lower than the atmospheric average.
How Does Carbon Dating Work - As it turns out, we have a check on the carbon-14 production which goes back even further than 8000 years: Evidence of past history of C-14 concentration in the atmosphere is now available through the past 22,000 years, using ages of lake sediments in which organic carbon compounds are preserved.
